Recently the FIG Tree @ The Priory www.fairtradecentre.org held one of its displays and demonstrations showing the stages that are required to make chocolate. The cocoa beans used are Fairtrade and originated from farmers who are members of the Kuapa Kokoo co-operative in Ghana. Bruce Crowther explained that the skill of the farmers in harvesting, drying and fermenting the beans before they are shipped is important for the good quality of the chocolate produced.
The event on 12th February was open to the public with over 20 people attending the fascinating demonstration and tasting a generous range of samples of Fig Tree Chocolate.
